The Story Behind the Practice

Gianna’s journey through movement, healing, and the power of slowing down.


Movement has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up training and competing as a gymnast, eventually earning a spot on the Penn State gymnastics team. Those years instilled in me discipline, strength, and a deep respect for the body’s capabilities—but also a habit of pushing past my own limits without always listening to what my body was asking for.

Everything shifted when I traveled to Bali to complete my 200-hour yoga teacher training. Something in me softened and opened there. It was the first time I slowed down enough to feel my body from the inside out—to understand my nervous system, my breath, and the difference between performing movement and being in relationship with it.

When I moved to Chicago, working one-on-one at StretchLab refined my understanding of functional anatomy and the many ways bodies hold tension, story, and stress. Teaching Pure Barre added another layer: alignment, strength, subtle engagement, and the way small movements can create big change.

As my work evolved, I found myself drawn more and more toward the energetic layer of healing. Studying Reiki gave language to what I had always sensed—energy moving beneath touch, emotions stored in the body, and the profound shifts that can happen when the system is given space to regulate and receive. Integrating Reiki into my practice allowed everything to come full circle: movement, breath, and energy working together to create real, lasting change.

All of these experiences live inside Liminal Flow today. I offer assisted stretching, yoga, and Reiki as separate, dedicated offerings, so you can choose exactly what kind of support your body or energy system needs. And for those who feel called to a more fluid experience, I also offer sessions where these modalities are woven together—movement softening the body, breath steadying the nervous system, and Reiki tending to the deeper energetic layers. Whether we focus on one modality or blend them, the intention remains the same: to help you feel safe in your body, release what’s been stored, and build strength and ease from a place of awareness.

This work isn’t about pushing harder—it’s about tuning in, softening where we can, and building strength where it counts. It’s about curiosity, care, and creating space to feel again.

My sessions are completely personalized—no two are the same. But here’s what you can always expect:
